IPads are great, they're small and portable. They're great to use when you're traveling.
Did you know you can turn your iPad into a lightweight, portable laptop? Most modern iPads can be connected to an external keyboard case complete with a multi-touch trackpad. The iPad will generally adhere to the keyboard case magnetically either directly or through a magnetic casing that attaches to it.
Most iPads are compatible with external keyboard cases. The type of keyboard case you will need depends on the model of iPad you have. Below is a list of the most common models:
iPad Pro (11-inch & 12.9-inch, M4 & earlier)
iPad Air (M2, M3, 4th & 5th Gen)
iPad (10th Gen & earlier)
iPad Mini (6th Gen & earlier)
You can easily find out which **iPad model** you have by checking its **settings** or **physical markings**:
Method 1: Check in Settings**
1. Open the **Settings** app.
2. Tap **General** > **About**.
3. Look for **Model Name** and **Model Number**.
Method 2: Check the Back of Your iPad**
- Flip your iPad over and look for a **small model number** (e.g., **Axxxx**) near the bottom.
- You can then match this number with Apple's official [iPad model list](https://support.apple.com/en-us/108043).
Method 3: Check the Original Packaging**
- If you still have the box, the **model name and number** should be printed on it.
